What this tool does
Encode UTF-8 Text as Base64
Your input is sent to the server for this request and is not saved as a tool content record. Infrastructure logs may still record request metadata, so do not submit secrets.
Base64 encoding converts UTF-8 bytes into the standard Base64 text alphabet. Use it for text fields, API examples, configuration values, and debugging when a text-safe representation is required.
Base64 is reversible and usually larger than the original bytes. It does not encrypt content, protect credentials, or make untrusted input safe.
How to use this tool
How to encode text as Base64
Paste the UTF-8 text you want to encode.
Select Encode Base64; this page keeps the workspace in Encode mode.
Compare the result with the tested example before copying it.
Treat Base64 as reversible encoding, not encryption or secret storage.

FAQ
Base64 encoding questions
What does Base64 encoding do?
It converts UTF-8 bytes into the standard Base64 text alphabet so the value can be carried in text-oriented formats.
Is Base64 encryption?
No. Base64 is reversible encoding and provides no confidentiality. Anyone with the value can decode it without a key.
Why is Base64 output larger?
Base64 represents each three input bytes with four text characters, so the encoded value is roughly one third larger before surrounding markup or headers.
Can this page encode binary files?
No. This workspace accepts text and encodes its UTF-8 bytes. Use a binary-aware file tool when you need to encode an image, archive, or other binary asset.
Is standard Base64 the same as Base64url?
No. Base64url uses different characters for URL compatibility and often omits padding. JWT segments use Base64url rather than the standard alphabet used here.
